Lana says of her creative inspiration...

"Currently I am more inspired by moments than subjects- everyday occurrences that draw an emotional response because of their naive simplicity. These moments, when examined more closely through the lens of the camera, speak of a greater significance- a relationship to time and place that may at the same time be unique and yet common to the human experience. Digital photography allows me to capture those moments and editing allows me to “paint in” my response to it - manipulating and enhancing images, transposing their visual aesthetic forwards and backwards in time, in style, in colour, in texture, in meaning and intensity. Recurring themes in my work centre  around concepts of nurture and relationships between people, places, objects and time. Living on an island I am constantly drawn to coastal locations, the beach and the sea. I like to blur the boundaries between realism and abstraction in my work. My portfolio is quite diverse- reflecting my need for the constant challenge of exploring new processes, methods and ideas."
