Artist Statement

I am a photographic printmaker. My works are derived from my life long collection of original photographs- including elements of my drawings, mono-prints and paintings, captured through the camera lens.

The editing processes of layering, colouring and digital painting/drawing allow me to "paint in" my responses to the original images transposing their visual aesthetic forward and backwards in time, in style, colour, texture, meaning and intensity, often to further reveal a political intent.

This series of works explores the concept of change- the complexity and enormity of contemporary idealogical and environmental change. They reference my concerns around the future of our world, the impacts of human thinking and behaviour on our physical and social environments. I see my works as visual cautions - a call to intervention- sometimes asking, sometimes answering the questions: what are we doing? what are we thinking? where are we heading? as we continually 'rescape' our tangible and non tangible realities.
